The Value of HubSpot Inbound Marketing Certification

A few years ago when HubSpot rolled out the HubSpot Academy certifications, we recommended that one of our new clients go through the Inbound Marketing courses. Interestingly enough, the client came back to us and said that he found it so valuable that we should require everyone for whom we provide inbound marketing services to go through the certification process.

May 2015 HubSpot offers a better experience than ever for those who want to learn all they can about inbound marketing!  The very latest in inbound marketing best practices in a high quality video format complete with downloadable resources with each class leading up to course completion and the opportunity to take the certification exam.  Here's how anyone can benefit from the inbound marketing certification courses.

  • HubSpot users managing their own inbound marketing services. This one is kind of a no-brainer, right? If you're the one responsible for your company's inbound marketing then having this as a foundation equips you with best practices. I would also recommend going back and referencing the classes and the resources on a regular basis. Be sure that you renew your certification every year, classes are updated as inbound marketing continues to evolve and HubSpot continues to add features to the software to take advantage of improvements.

  • HubSpot users working with an agency partner providing inbound marketing services. If you're working with a certified HubSpot partner agency then you get a free pass on the inbound marketing courses, right? Of course not! Just like we have our clients go through the certification process, you should as well. Particularly if you have come from a traditional marketing background. You need to know the reason for recommended  strategy and activities. It will make your agency relationship harmonious, save a lot of time and in the end help you get better results from your inbound marketing.

  • Marketing professionals responsible for social media, blogging, emailing, lead generation, and other marketing activities. If you're doing "pieces" of inbound marketing, you can benefit from these classes whether or not you're using HubSpot. (They are free to everyone, by the way.) Having an understanding of how each piece contributes to the overall inbound marketing effort will identify what changes might be needed to increase lead generation for your sales team.

  • Recent marketing graduates who have discovered that their college courses fell a little short regarding online marketing trends and want to get a leg up on the competition. This is a big one. If you recently completed your marketing degree, I'm guessing the last thing you want to hear is that you need to take MORE classes. However, if your goal is to become part of a team delivering inbound marketing services, walking into that all important interview having completed your inbound marketing certification will definitely give you an advantage over other candidates.

As mentioned before, the classes are free and available just by visiting the HubSpot Academy. You can take them at your own pace, and tweet your score when you're done. (I'll bet you get some props from a HubSpot Professor when you do!)
